An Iraqi War veteran says Metro officers beat him at McCarran International Airport. Action News has video of the alleged beating two months ago. National guard Sergeant Mark England says the officers beat him with a nightstick and shot him with a taser after an argument with TSA agents at the airport. The Metro officers involved are still working and Metro says based on the video Action News showed them they believe the officer didn't do anything wrong. Status of Case as of 1 JAN 2009 One of LVMPD Officers are still working active , armed duty at the airport; the other has been promoted to weapons instructor and now teaches at the academy. Neither faced direct criminal, civil or administrative action. The third Metro Officer laughing in the second video is listed as a witness since he did not get himself involved, it's legal (but unprofessional) to laugh at someone's pain. Neither Metro nor SGT England have successfully been able to bring a lawsuit against the other. *LVMPD found itself "exonerated" *The Clark County Citizen's Review board found in favour of Metro. *Attorney Cal Potter was representing Sgt. -There is no such thing as calling yourself a by the rank in which you left the service -England was not drunk despite 13 TSA Officers and 3 Metro Officers swearing on affidavits that they all thought he was drunk -England was not aggressive or threatening when demanding the supervisors supervisor -The Metro Officers intentions of taking england to an area about 25 feet away from his podium was not to talk to him privately to avoid further embarrassment to the SGT, but because there is no good camera angles there and he plans on beating the SGT -There isnt another camera located to the left of the incident that gives a clearer picture -England showed absolutely no resistance at all when the Metro officer tried to handcuff him -The TSA directed people away from the checkpoint, not to protect England from being trampled, but so that there could be no witnesses -All 12 TSA Agents were told what to say, or otherwise phrased their statements to match with this story -Both Metro Officers abused him for no good reason -The TSA and Metro conspired together to come up with a story to make England look bad

History channel documentary http://www.history.com/ Snipers of the Soviet Union played an important role mainly on the Eastern Front of World War II, apart from other preceding and subsequent conflicts. In World War II, Soviet snipers used the 7.62x54R rifle cartridge with light, heavy, armour-piercing (B-30), armour-piercing-and-incendiary (B-32), zeroing-and-incendiary (P3), and tracer bullets. Most Soviet WWII snipers carried a combat load of 120 rifle cartridges in the field.Unlike the militaries of other nations, these snipers could be men or women. In 1943, there were over 2,000 women functioning in this role. Soviet military doctrine used snipers for providing long-distance suppressive fire and for eliminating targets of opportunity, especially leaders, because during The Great Patriotic War, Soviet military leaders and combat theorists (Vasily Zaytsev contributed greatly to Soviet sniper doctrine, found that military organisations have difficulty replacing experienced non-commissioned officers and field officers during times of war. They also found that the more expensive and less rugged sniper rifles could match the cost-effectiveness of a cheaper assault rifle given good personnel selection, training, and adherence to doctrine. The Soviet Union also used women for sniping duties extensively, including Lyudmila Pavlichenko and Nina Alexeyevna Lobkovskaya. The most successful Soviet use of snipers during the Great Patriotic War was during their defensive stages of the war (1941-1943), after which the advantage of defence shifted to the German side and German snipers became a real danger to the advancing Soviets. The sniper version of the Mosin-Nagant rifle was used before, after, and during The Great Patriotic War. The second soviet sniper rifle of that era, the Tokarev SVT-40, was also the sniper variant of a service rifle. The SVT-40 was a newer semi-automatic rifle chambered for the same ammunition as the older bolt action Mosin-Nagant. It was produced and used in smaller numbers then the Mosin-Nagant during World War II and is therefore not so famous,and most Soviet snipers preferred the mosin nagant over the Tokarev.
